I'm upgrading my computer after like 10 years (Should I still use ASUS PCI-Express x1 Sound Card XONAR Essence STX)?

When I first got my ASUS PCI-Express x1 Sound Card XONAR Essence STX and played Battlefield: Bad Company 2 with Sennheisers, I was amazed how real it sounded and immersive it got.
I have no idea about audio, so should I install my Xonar essence stx when my parts come in a couple days? I play games all the time, watch movies and listen to music sometimes.
I have a shitty headset atm, won't be getting good headphones for a while.

We are trying to add Wifi capability to an older AMD desktop.
The working/current state is the Speccy info above. Onboard LAN works great, PCI-Express video works great (2 monitors on it). The GT 740 is in the PCI-Express x16 slot.
The issue is when we tried adding this card to the PCI-Express x1 slot: https://www.amazon.com/FebSmart-Wireless-300Mbps-Streming-PCIe-FS-AC86/dp/B07JJFYG7J/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem.
When the Wifi card is present, it boots into Windows, but both the local LAN device AND the Wifi device are not present/detected at all. Device manager shows nothing under Network Adapters, Windows Network Adapter settings show nothing present.
When we removed the Wifi card and rebooted, everything was normal (LAN detected and working).
We disabled Quick boot in the BIOS with no change. We verified there were no extra options in the BIOS to enable the x1 slot, only to set "graphics" to "PCI-E", which it was already.
Provide any additional details you wish below.
I have a feeling this is somehow related to the motherboard/chipsets and how they handle PCI-Express, but I haven't been able to find any definitive documentation to prove it. I know this is a lower-end motherboard so maybe the video card in the x16 slot is taking precedence over the x1 slot somehow? It's confusing because the local LAN gets disabled too... Does anyone have any further ideas or experience with this one?
Thanks

PCI Express x1 Bus Speed Reported

Hi, I was wondering if there was any advice on fixing the reported PCI Express speed under "System Information" in the Nvidia Control Panel , GPUz reports x16 but I believe this could be superficial .
From what I have read this has been officially fixed in QEMU 4.0 and I believe a patch already exists for people who build from source, however I have installed via DNF.
Specs = Fedora 30 - Kernel : 5.0.11-300.fc30.x86_64 -Qemu : qemu-3.1.0-7.fc30 -Machine Type : pc-q35-3.1 -CPU : AMD 2700x -GPU : Nvidia 2070 .
Is there any current work around for me where I dont have to build Qemu from Source ?
Does anyone know if/when Qemu 4.0 will be coming to Fedora 30 ?
Thank you for any information.

I have a Dell XPS 8500 with the mSATA & PCI-Express x16 slots, and all onboard SATA ports occupied. There is a PCI-Express x1 slot available. Can I add a card there without losing the functionality of one of the existing slots or ports?

I have a Dell XPS 8500 Special Edition (config details at the link) with SATA ports and PCI-E slots used as described above.
I would like to add this 4 Port SATA III NON-RAID PCI-e 2.0 x1 Card to an open PCI-E x1 slot.
Would this cause anything else to stop working due to power, or bus bandwidth limitations? Just wondering, because I know some motherboards deactivate various ports or features depending on which or how many PCI-E slots are in use.

What are the legacy PCI (non-Express), PCI-Express x1 , or AGP card options out there?

It seems that for all of the above it is basically an nvidia 610 series.
Are there any legacy port, modern nVidia cards? The whole goal is just to get something with HDMI and dual monitor support in a few old PCs.
Also I'm contemplating a PCI Express 1x to 16x riser adapter, or the pci to express 1x adapters!

I only have a PCI Express x1 left and need to add an additional GPU. I plan on only using these gpus for two displays and desktop usage. Is there any kind of adapter I'm able to buy which allows me to use say a 710 (bad GPU I know) on pcie x1 with adapter.

Will a PCI Express x1 Work with a GT 710?

I was looking at my motherboard earlier and wanted to know if a PCI express x1 would work with a GT 710 (yes terrible GPU I know). I'm not entirely sure what version the PCI Express slots are but I got it in 2016. I won't be using it for gaming just powering two monitors. My other PCI express slots are occupied so that's why it's x1.

Asus Rampage V Edition 10 integrated Wi-Fi VS Asus PCE-AC68 PCI-Express x1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter

Hey guys. I'm working on a build with this motherboard and I was reading about it and I saw that it has integrated wireless ("Connectivity continues with onboard 802.11ac Wi-Fi (3x3) and dual Ethernet controllers, both from Intel (1219-V and 1211-AT).
I was planning to buy the Asus PCE-AC68 PCI-Express x1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter but after seeing this I'm having second thoughts. Would I notice a very big difference in signal quality/speed from one to the other? I see very good reviews for the adapter but it's also a bit costy.

Riser PCI express X1 for T420

Sorry if wrong forum.
I have a T420 and I am looking at a potential eGPU solution I found on eBay. The seller confirmed the expansion would work for a video card.
But I'm concerned the link between the express card and the pci-e slot. It's either USB 2.0 or 3.0. Either one would be less than ideal right?
Can I get a second opinion on this product? Here is the link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/112116083244
Thank you for your time.

GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5 PCI Express x1 slot not detecting gpu

So I decided to build another rig(running Ubuntu 12.04) with 5-gv-r9270c-2gd GPU's, but my mother board won't detect the first card in the x1 slot (with riser). When I move it to the the last x16 slot it works fine. Mother board is a GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5. It's fine in the x16 slot, but I wanted to get a 6th card to put in the x1 slot. Any ideas??

[Build Help] Anyway of accessing a blocked pci express x1 slot?

Hello, I finished a computer build using a Gigabyte H110M-H Motherboard. Unfortunately, the graphics card completely blocks the first pci express x1 slot and is about 1mm away from the 2nd slot. At the moment, my wifi card doesn't fit in due to about a 2mm clearance issue. Is there any way I could use an extension cable or something that would allow me to use my network card or will I have to use a USB wifi adapter instead?
I was thinking of a cable like this to try and use the card: http://www.moddiy.com/products/PCI%252dExpress-PCI%252dE-x1-Extension-Cable-Riser-(19cm).html
